Last PostWelcome to my last post as class 3 teacher at Brooms. It has been a pleasure teaching your children this year and I wish them every success in their next class. I would also like to thank you for the wonderful gifts from you and your children. The last pictures I will show you are from our trip to Gibside where the children had a fantastic time. I hope you enjoy them. Thank you and goodbye.

Last week in class 3 we were learning about and making 3D shapes using modelling materials. The children had a great but sometimes frustrating time making shapes using play dough and straws. Here is a picture of their 3D shape city. Why don't you ask the children what shapes they know?
First week after Easter we had Pythons winning for their good behaviour and collaboration.
However , last week brought first time winners Lions! Congratulations, keep up the good work. Monkeys did it again
A very special week this week , when the monkeys decided to share their treat with the rest of the class. I gave the children the chance to have a treat for themselves or to share their success with the rest of the class, which they did, I am so proud of them. You may have heard the children talk about pom-poms at school so I thought it would explain how this positive reinforcement works .
Each table can earn pom-poms throughout the week for for doing the right thing , showing examples of positive behaviour, working well together and getting on with tasks. The pom-poms build up amd the winning table receives a small treat to celebrate their effort. We thought it would be a good idea to share this with parents and carers so you can share in the celebration. We have just decided on new table names and I have included a picture for you to see , your children can tell you which table they are on. Each week I will let you know which table has won. Please share any thoughts you have about this by posting on the blog. Thank you so much and I look forward to hearing from you! Sometimes it is amazing what happens in school. I have just recently completed our class display for our current science topic which is Rocks and Soils. The following morning a member of staff popped into the classroom and asked if we were doing rocks? I confirmed it was class 3 and she said, " Well, I just happen to have a rock in my car, would you like to see it?" You can guess the rest and the picture of the rock is here for you to see. I wonder if you can guess who the rock collector is? I can give you a clue, the rock is called Vivianite.
It was lovely to see so many family members join the children's Liturgy, The children prepared and delivered the Liturgy themselves and I thought it was a very reverent and thoughtful way to celebrate the end of our Journey's topic. Leading up to Christmas the children's home learning project was to create their own Wonka room .
The children came up with some fabulous creations which are in the gallery below, We hope you enjoy the pictures and please feel free to post a comment. We all enjoyed a wonderful trip to Whitehouse Farm in Morpeth.
We were met by Santa's elves and were shown around the farm where we met some animals , had a tractor ride, fed some farm animals. The children took part in a nativity with a real donkey and then had a very special visit to see Santa. The Children had a wonderful time and behaved really well , they were a credit to the school. Here are some pictures of what we got up to at the farm. This week the children are learning some poetry by heart and then performing it. They had the great idea of adding actions to help them remember the poem. Here are some pictures of the children practising the first stanza. Could you share a poem with your child that you have learnt in the past?
